Stainless Acid-Resistant Steel: EN 1.4404
Need extra corrosion resistance? Choose acid-resistant stainless steel.
EN 1.4404 is an acid-resistant stainless steel alloy that contains molybdenum, giving it excellent resistance to chlorides, acids, and other aggressive environments. It is often used in demanding applications where standard stainless steel (such as EN 1.4301) is not sufficient. The surface is slightly shinier than brushed, but it can also be delivered brushed if appearance is important.

Food and Pharmaceutical Industry
1.4404 is widely used in the food and pharmaceutical industries due to its high hygienic standard and resistance to acids, salts, and cleaning chemicals. It is commonly found in processing equipment, piping systems, tanks, and valve components where cleanliness and corrosion resistance are essential.

Marine Environment
Thanks to its molybdenum content, 1.4404 performs significantly better than basic stainless steels in saltwater environments. It is often used in boats, docks, railings, and other installations near the sea or lakes, where steel must withstand moisture, salt, and time.

Process and Chemical Industry
In the chemical industry, 1.4404 is used in pipes, heat exchangers, valves, and other equipment exposed to strong chemicals. Its low carbon content also makes it resistant to intergranular corrosion, which is critical when welding or exposing the material to high temperatures.

Construction and Architecture
Acid-resistant stainless steel is also used in architectural applications where both aesthetics and long-lasting durability are required, such as facades, railings, columns, and details in coastal buildings. It maintains its finish over time even in harsh weather conditions, minimizing the need for maintenance.
